Venus opposite Saturn, square Uranus | July 6 and 8, 2021
Venus is moving through a couple of tough aspects during the week of July 5th, first forming an opposition to Saturn on July 6th, and then squaring Uranus in Taurus on July 8th.
If these aspects sound familiar to you, it’s because I’ve been talking about them for the past several weeks. Venus is very close to Mars right now and will catch up to the planet of action and courage on July 13th.
It’s now Venus’ turn to activate the Saturn-Uranus square that we're dealing with all year. It’s yet another planet to go through the wringer, although this time, I suspect the effects will be seen much more in our inter-personal lives than in the collective. At the macro-level, we are still very much deal with the fall out of the Mars-square-Uranus chaos, and when Venus enters the mix, we might start to process our trauma and grief more in our personal relationships.
All of this is going to bring some dynamic shake-ups to our relationships, especially those interpersonal dynamics that have been fixed, steady, and foundational. Things are shifting. The things that used to feel settled and stable are starting to change. Something wants your attention... so make sure you're taking note. Where are you feeling restless, unsettled, and yearning for more?
I suspect that things will continue to feel a bit heavy for the next week, although the New Moon on the 9th gives us some relief, as will Venus conjunct Mars on the 13th. Hopefully this fusion between Venusian harmony and Mars’ action-oriented nature will help us catalyze the chaotic-yet-frustrated energy into something a little more creative and generative.
Venus opposite Saturn
This isn't a super pleasant experience for Venus, who finds herself being scrutinized by cold and unforgiving Saturn. Venus's job is to create pleasure, beauty, and fun, while Saturn's job is to set limits, "say no" and remind us that winter is coming. Venus opposite Saturn can make us feel unworthy and unlovable, as we turn Saturn's critical gaze on ourselves. We might also come up against some logistic issues when we try to form connections or relationships — maybe your trip to visit your sweetie gets postponed because of Covid restrictions, for example.
This is a time to give yourself a lot of extra love and tenderness — and also try not to take things personally. If someone is gruff or short with you, remember that they are probably feeling this transit, too.
Venus square Uranus
Whatever was shaken up or shut down during the opposition to Saturn now yearns to be set free, as Venus squares Uranus. Uranus has a tendency to make us want to burn all our bridges so we can start fresh and new. It wants to liberate us from the relationships that are keeping us small, meek, and unhappy. After feeling small and restricted a few days ago, we might be looking to over-correct by bucking the trends.
The impatience is likely to manifest in the areas of our lives to do with relationships, social connections, and where we find fun and pleasure in the world. Maybe this looks like partying extra hard after a period of cutting back. Maybe this looks like blowing up at someone after not expressing your feelings for a long time. Hopefully, we can find some healthy(ish) ways to off-gas this energy that doesn't involve yelling at our loved ones.
Take note of how the themes of the Saturn-Uranus square are being activated through your relationships at this moment. Whatever themes were activated on June 14th and July 1st, we are now getting the more relational, socially-oriented manifestations of the themes. Our connections, ties, and how we create peace and harmony in our lives are being slowed down and scrutinized so that we can see where we need more freedom and movement in our lives and in our social networks.
For even more information about how this transit might affect you, think about what houses Venus rules in your chart. What houses contain Libra and Taurus? For example, if you’re a Libra Rising, you are likely going to feel the Venus opposition to Saturn much more loudly than you felt the Mars opposition, because Venus is the planet that rules your Ascendant.
Things can even more interested when you start to layer in where the planets are in your birth chart. For example, if you’re someone who has a bunch of planets around 13° of Leo (or any of the fixed signs), this astrology is REALLY loud in your chart because it’s affecting you personally, rather than just collectively.
