Jupiter in Aries
/On May 10, 2022, Jupiter leaves the watery realm of Pisces and enters the fierce and fiery sign of Aries. The planet of luck, abundance and generosity has entered a new sign — and therefore, new part of your birth chart.
Keep reading to discover what this transit will feel like and what themes to expect over the next few months.
Jupiter is known as the “greater benefic” — it is associated with abundance, wealth, growth, expansion, learning through experience, and wisdom. It’s also associated with social structures and norms, like legal systems, religious institutions and political structures — after all, Jupiter was Zeus, king of the gods in ancient Greek mythology.
Wherever Jupiter is in the zodiac, that area of life gets a lot of attention and focus, becoming the site of growth and development in your life. Jupiter tends to be “more, more, more.” It’s the planet of “Yes, and.” And the zodiac sign tells us about the style in which Jupiter will do its job of growth and expansion.
Independent & courageous
Where Pisces is introspective, imaginative and intuitive, Aries is courageous, impulsive and extraverted. Aries is a fire sign, which is all about self-expression and moving out into the world. If you’ve been feeling like a hermit these past few months, Jupiter in Aries will encourage you to get out there and go on adventures.
Jupiter in Aries is incredibly independent and self-sufficient. You might find yourself wanting to be more autonomous and in control of your own destiny. Jupiter in Aries is very much “go big or go home” type energy. It wants to move forward, take action (even/especially risky ones), and be brave.
There is a fearless quality to Jupiter in Aries. It’s a teenager who thinks they are invincible, with the audacity of a squirrel crossing a busy road.
Starting new things, blazing new trails
Aries is a cardinal sign, meaning it is all about initiating new projects. During this transit, you might feel called to start a project where you have a lot of control — whether it’s your own business, launching a new product or service, or starting an Instagram account for your hobby. The problem is that while Aries energy is great for the initial spark of excitement, you need a lot of fortitude to keep going. And Jupiter in Aries doesn’t necessarily have the staying power.
While Jupiter is in Aries, you might feel the urge to set out on your own and blaze new trails. Jupiter in Aries is very entrepreneurial and comfortable with taking risks. It wants to initiate new projects and new ideas and move them along very quickly. You might find yourself speeding up and being impatient and restless, especially since Mercury is retrograde at the beginning of Jupiter’s transit.
So while you might have a lot of energy for starting new projects, don’t get discouraged if you aren’t immediately successful, especially if they are major long-term projects.
Watch out for burnout
Jupiter in Aries loves to do it all and burn the candle at both ends. This enthusiasm is great, but it does have the potential to bite you in the ass. Saying yes to too many things and overcommitting yourself to many different causes and groups is a recipe for burnout.
Aries is the match, the spark… it’s brilliant and powerful, but it doesn’t stay very long. The key to Jupiter in Aries is to balance enthusiasm with long-term sustainability.
Try to be at least a little conservative with how you spend your energy and what you say yes to, especially when Mercury is retrograde and Mars is in Pisces and things are a little foggy. Once Mars joins Jupiter in Aries (and especially on May 29, 2022, when Mars conjuncts Jupiter), you will likely feel more energized and enthusiastic… but that also means you’ll be prone to overdoing it.
Fight for your rights - Jupiter in Aries, in the news and politics
Politically and in the world around us, we might see more expressions of anger and frustrations, especially as they pertain to individual liberties and freedom of expression. We are already seeing this with the outcry against the Supreme Court’s draft opinion to overturn abortion rights in America.
Jupiter joins Venus, who entered Aries on May 2nd — Venus often represents reproductive rights and social issues, so it will be interesting to see how/whether Jupiter’s ingress into Aries inflames the situation.
Jupiter is also associated with legal and judicial institutions and systems of government, in general, so it’s possible that legal systems will be under extra scrutiny while Jupiter is in Aries. Mars joins Jupiter in Aries on May 24, 2022, which will be a moment to watch. Mars turns up the heat (literally and figuratively), so things might feel more violent and aggressive.
Since Aries is a fire sign, I’m curious if we will see more intense heat and fire-related environmental situations arise (although with climate change, that seems likely to happen regardless of what Jupiter is up to). Especially when Mars enters Aries, it’s possible to start seeing some news articles about forest fires and heat waves.
